Almost every country has special rules that let people with certain qualifications acquire citizenship more easily. Türkiye is one of them.
Because of their close ties with Türkiye, some foreign nationals can acquire Turkish citizenship far more easily than other foreigners. This is called exceptional citizenship.
Foreign investors can also acquire citizenship this way, provided their investment reaches a certain scope and amount.
Under current legislation, a foreign investor who holds a short-term residence permit and meets the conditions of one of the investment routes below may acquire Turkish citizenship on application and by decision of the President. Minimum amounts and periods are set by law and may change over time; we assess the current requirements for you before you apply.
Fixed capital investment: an investment in the production of goods or services, as established by the competent ministry. Buying real estate alone does not qualify.
Real estate investment: the purchase of real estate with an annotation in the land register that it will not be sold for a set period. A current valuation report from a licensed valuation firm is required before the purchase.
Creating employment: providing jobs for the number of people set by law, as established by the competent ministry.
Bank deposit: a deposit with banks operating in Türkiye, held for the period set by law.
Meeting these conditions does not grant citizenship automatically: an application with the required documents must be filed and approved.
